The Anglican way

parish picture

The Anglican way of being Christian is enormously varied ... from ultra anglo-catholic to extreme protestant, and includes congregations who emphasise pentecostal belief. We have the freedom to be so varied because of our heritage, based on the English church whose history stretches back to Roman times, but which also adopted the perspectives and understandings of protestantism at the time of the Reformation in the 16th century. At Raymond Terrace we have parishioners whose understanding of faith covers the whole gamut of Christian experience. The underlying theology of the church is sacramental: we meet around the altar on Sunday mornings to share Eucharist - the breaking bread and sharing wine to rememnber Jesus, as Jesus himself commanded us to. We listen to God's word, the Holy Bible, to seek to discern God's word for us today. We join in prayers for the world and for the church. We seek to be an open and inclusive group of Christians, allowing God's Holy Spirit to work in and through us today. All who live around are welcome to join us - come along on a Sunday and meet us.
