Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus

Prayer

The Lords Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

Collect for Purity

Almighty God,
to whom all hearts are open, all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hidden.

Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify you holy Name;

through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Richard of Chichester

Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which you have given us,
for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us.
Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother,
may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,
day by day.

Prayer of the Chalice

Father, to you I raise my whole being,
a vessel emptied of self. Accept, Lord
this my emptiness, and so fill me with
yourself, your light, your love, your
life ? that these your precious gifts
may radiate through me and over-
flow the chalice of my heart into
the hearts of all with whom I
come in contact this day
revealing to them
the beauty of
your Joy
and
wholeness
and
the
serenity
of your peace
which nothing can destroy

Collect for the Morning

Bless the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us;
let us pray with one heart and mind.

Silence is kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,
so may the light of your presence, O God,
set our hearts on fire with love for you;
now and for ever.

Amen.

Russian Kontakin

All we go down to the dust,
and weeping o'er the grave we make our song.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints:
where sorrow and pain are no more;
neither sighing but life everlasting.

You only are immortal, the creator and maker of all:
and we are mortal formed of the dust of the earth,
and to earth shall we return:
for so you ordained,
when you created me saying:
"Dust you are and to dust you shall return."

All we go down to the dust;
and weeping o'er the grave we make our song:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Circle Prayer

Circle us, Lord.
Keep darkness out, keep light within.
Keep fear without, keep peace within.
Keep hated out, keep love within.

For Creation

As the morning mist shrouds the river
and then is lifted by the gentle rays of the rising son,

so may our clouded spirits be raised by the warmth of your love.
Make us always mindful of your creation its fragility and its beauty.

Teach us to cherish it for those who come after
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
